Gimped /shopped photos (or just au natural) of you and yours at events / fooling around / what have you. Please ensure that there are no copyright violations going on that will pull down heat on ole Duder. Original art work, sculpture (pics of, obviously). Anything you think will look good in a book (Dudeism Annual).

I opened up a discussion thread on the Dudeism Facebook page asking for contributions - used some examples from a few of us.

Here's something I've been working on, but it just feels off somehow.  I can't quite get the look that I have in my head in the picture.

From what is Dudeism trying to liberate us?Thinking that's too uptight.

To what state of being is Dudeism trying to bring us? Just taking it easy, man.

By what means does Dudeism attempt do this? Abiding.

Cool, thanks for posting; what kind of look are you going for? Are you going for a high gloss kinda thing (like a magazine ad) - but, to those in the know, it's satirical ('cos it's Dude paraphernalia and far from Eastern gloss?) Have you considered using a different background - all one colour (like a piece of blue or red velvet or silk; you might find it easier to compose the pic a little more precisely if your minds eye isn't distracted by the background. You could change the lighting, perhaps. Although, you can jiggle that around with Gimp processing (or whatever prog you use). I think, once you sort it out it would be good for a Dude-vert (Dude ad thread). A lotta glass there so it is tricky to work with on Gimp (if I erase the background from around the central theme you'll still see some of it through the glass). Just suggestions, Dude - thanks for posting, keep rollin'

I think you're right about everything. The background isn't right (too plain I think), and the surface they're sitting on is odd because of the glass. I initially went for that surface because it's a humidor with cigars under that glass, which I felt added and element, but it just doesn't show up right.  I think I might also need a larger Half and Half, and I'll try to find a generic one so it doesn't look like and ad for Deans!  My goal was kind of "if you took a snapshot of a dudes home, what would you find?"

Using photoshop elements at the moment to edit.

Gimp, Dude - you can acquire thousands of different kind of brushes for Gimp (free); I even had some smoke brushes (have to go and root them out again 'cos I deleted them to make some space) although that smoke-like effect was done with a cloud brush. I didn't draw anything on there (even the leaf and flowers were done with a brush - in effect more like a stamp). I think I then put it through an oil filter (uploaded the wrong one). Anyway, easy as falling-off a log, Dude.  8)  Gimp homepage: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Here's a very good source for Gimp brushes (also Photoshop brushes if you use the active search field): http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/applications/gimpbrushes/?order=9
