On Huff Po I just read an article by J Carter, he talks about how there were only a half million prisoners in America when he left the office, now our jails are bursting. He comments on the Global commission on Drug Policy report, and calls for America to wake up from the War on Drugs nightmere.

No president has ever been perfectly right or wrong in everything they have done, but this is another reason for Dudes to dig the Carter style, one of the most under rated former presidents if you ask me.

The report describes the total failure of the present global antidrug effort, and in particular America?s ?war on drugs,? which was declared 40 years ago today. It notes that the global consumption of opiates has increased 34.5 percent, cocaine 27 percent and cannabis 8.5 percent from 1998 to 2008. Its primary recommendations are to substitute treatment for imprisonment for people who use drugs but do no harm to others, and to concentrate more coordinated international effort on combating violent criminal organizations rather than nonviolent, low-level offenders. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/17/opinion/17carter.html?_r=2&emc=eta1

"...the War on Drugs nightmere." - THAT IS FOR DAMN SURE! A fucking nightmare of stupidity!

Yeah I dig Carter. If for no other reason he was the rare president that was not a lawyer and in a strange way not really a politician. He was a nuclear engineer. Most people don't realize that about him.
That means that he was not entirely hot air.
And at least he could pronounce the word "NUCLEAR".

For me the down side was that he was a "born again christian". While he did a good job of separating it from his presidency I think it was a bad trend. Today I think even the least threatening of religious zealotry really threatens our way of life. Today there is never a presidential election where at least one serious candidate holds beliefs that I would term delusional and really dangerous. But hey. That's just like my opinion man.

Check out our latest candidate for the prize..

You have to think like a capitalist to understand the Goverment........ How can you make the most money on something .... that is the capitalist situation ...... the anserw  ......... control all possibilities ..... manufacturing, distrubution and the laws and the law breakers that is simply why there is a war on drugs and there always will be you make more money selling illegal drugs and busting people who do not play along (or whenever you want to control the situation) ask that dude from Panama!
