Yeah, dude, almost forgot The Dude was in another of my all time favorite movies The Fisher King.
Didn't play much of a Dude in that one till the end, but then thats pretty much what it's all about isn't it, finding your inner dudeness.

my wife really dug it when he said that he finds comfort in not really knowing who he is.  She said that it was like realizing you don't really have to put any pressure on yourself.
From what is Dudeism trying to liberate us?Thinking that's too uptight.

To what state of being is Dudeism trying to bring us? Just taking it easy, man.

By what means does Dudeism attempt do this? Abiding.

I love this film but then I really like all Terry Gilliam's work.

Yeah, I like Gilliam's stuff and The Fisher King; I have issues with Robin Williams, though. He didn't do too badly in the "TFK" and I hear he has improved a lot as an actor (he played a stalker/killer a few years ago and I think he got good reviews). Anyway, I have to say that the best performance (IMO) in TFK is given by Mercedes Ruehl (it could just be my trousers talking but I don't care):

For me it's not about evangelizing, just Abiding.
Far as the state of the world man, long as they don't pee on my rug....

By that's just like my opinion man.

Fuck, I am gonna be the last Dude to see the A M special, sometimes feeding the monkey sux, oh well, call it a bad roll and chill till the weekend when I will get back home and watch The Dude Abides.

Been meaning to watch TFK again now for a while, it was really good, and it left an impression on me when I saw it, but time has faded memory, well time and a bunch of Js, and I forget which dent on my psyche was caused by TFK.

Hi Caesar, I will check with the guys at the lab about the "heisse Fraeuleins"  ;D

Re TFK: This is helluva great movie. Also, Dudes, I think, Robin Williams, is another actor who tends to be underrated. You seen him in "Dead poets' society", "Awakenings" or "Good morning, Vietnam".
I think he is a real great actor.

CB, I fully agree with you on MR in TFK! She too is great! Never mind your trousers.

What ever works for you, Dude - personally I didn't find him a well-rounded thespian; he was good in Good Morning, Vietnam good script and cast - plenty of room for RW to improvise (wherein lies his genius) - as I said, he seems to have honed his craft of late. As for the other movies you mentioned let's just say I preferred him in The World According To Garp. Great movie  ;D

The World According to Garp is DEFINITELY one of my favorites!!!

I have to say "The World According to Garp" completely lost me, I read it but really didn't think it was that good (IMHO of course). so didn't see the film.

I will admit to liking RW in "The Birdcage" (though the original french "La cage aux folles" is supposed to be better).

The Birdcage is another favorite!  I never read the book TWATG but I would really give the movie a try if I were you.
