New Dudecast

Well, I was trying to work on the podomatic site today, but the server is acting up.

So, the dudecast will get out when it gets out. I'll try to have it up by Thursday like normal, but I don't know what's going to happen.

I am not happy.

OK, it wasn't Podomatic's server, it was my wireless router. It wouldn't let me upload through the hard connection, only through the wireless connection.

So, I was able to upload an updated first episode.

Then the wireless connection crashed.

I have no idea when I will be able to upload episode 7. It is recorded, and I need to edit, then I'll be ready.

I hope to have it up tomorrow (Thursday), which is my normal schedule, but I can't promise anything.

As I said, I am not happy.

Now, dudes, this one is 22 minutes! Don't freak out on me and get all reactionary. The 'talking' is only 13 or so minutes. With the intro, outro, 3 1/2 minute song I promised last time, and a new "heavy" part at the very end, it just looks longer than it is.

And that's always a good thing, right, guys?

The heavy stuff is at the end so you don't have to listen if you don't want.

So how are you feeling about podcasting?  Getting the hang of it?  How's your list of ideas coming along?  Maybe we can collaborate some time.

Podcasting is fun.

Getting the time to do it isn't. Even on a 2 week schedule I find myself "on the wire" to get it out.

It's Wednesday, the 'cast is due out tomorrow, and I haven't recorded it yet. That means it won't be out til Thursday night at the earliest, maybe even Saturday!

I've got my subject for this one, but I'm lost after that. I don't actually know if I'm gonna do more than 10. What with server space being limited, I will either have to stop or start deleting from Podomatic. Can't spend any money on this right now. The Mrs. Righteous Dude has the checkbook, and pays the bills, so I can't bitch too much.

We'll see what happens.

And, yes, a collaboration would be fine, as long as we can keep it on topic. Might be hard to do with 2 people who blather and ramble like we do. But, which one of us blathers, and which one rambles?

Episode 8 is recorded, and will be posted Wednesday, if all goes according to plan. Just have to finish post-production, and me and the Mrs. Righteous Dude will be at church Tuesday night.

Thanks to FuckinA for suggesting the topic. Thanks to his urging, I actually found a patron Saint of Dudes! Well, that's the title that I gave him.

He's really the patron saint of comedians, butchers, and, according to one source, lazy people.

He's a real dude! But, ya gotta listen to find out who he was!

Donny died on Aug. 10. Can we also roll the 258 into that somehow? Donny wore a shirt with the name "Austin", which is short for Augustine.

Pope Sixtus beheaded on Aug. 6. The Dude did a header into the toilet on that same day. Walter said on Aug. 10 "I got buddies that died face down in the muck."

Makes ya wonder just what kind of research the Coens did...

And, in case ya'll hadn't figured it out, I'm suffering from a severe case of what is called "podfade". That's when a podcast just stops.

I haven't quit. I just really slowed down for a while.

I'm looking into a web  host with unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth. If I can get in, I'll re-boot the dudecast.

The re-boot won't be so extremely centered on the Dude, most likely. It'll still be The Righteous Dude, and I'll still be "not heavy", but I will be trying to expand my audience. A lot of people need a little Dudely Religion, so I'll be spreading the Christian Word, in a very Dude fashion.

And, yes, I know I still owe you guys a story about one particular night in 1988.

The ninth, and final, episode of the original dudecast is recorded, edited, and mixed.

I hope the story lives up to the hype.
