Post by: RevWade on December 18, 2009, 12:17:02 PM
John Prine is a singer songwriter who tells about the ups and downs of life.  Id deffinately recommend listening to illegal smile by John Prine below.

let me think about this top ten list further.  I know John Prine would be on there, but I need need to look at when some of the things that I have been listening to and liking, actually came out.

I have the new Springsteen and while it is pretty good, Im not sure if it would make it on my top ten list.  A couple of the songs are really good, but I find myself skipping over others.  I actually went to the store to get the new Springsteen and then saw John Prine and ended up with both.  The two are similar in feel, but I think that the Prine album is better overall.

Fucking A Dude!  Prine ranks up there with Zevon and Waits and dare I say (Dare, dare!) Dylan as a most incredible songsmith!

"Fair and Square" is an awesome album.  Really like "Some Humans Ain't Human".

And "Dear Abby" speaks to quintessential Dudeism, "You are what you are, and
you ain't what you ain't."

Is that some sort of Eastern thing?

Yeah, well, I definitely dig his style, man.  He's got that whole laid back thing going on.

Old thread I know, but just listening to Prine for the last hour and mellowing out, and wondered if he had ever been discussed here, and was happy to see he had.

"I was sitting in the bath tub, counting my toes...."

Prine helps me abide whenever I put him on.

He may be my "Creedence" so to speak....
