  • A good solid scientific breakdown of everything there, man :)

My argument has always been, as I put in my own article, that science cannot disprove the spiritual, as spirituality cannot disprove science.  It's when spiritualists try and sidestep scientific facts about life as we know it that's the issue.  Or when science says "there is no god, or no afterlife" or whatever, when there's no proof against such things.  Afterall, Darwin and Einstein were religious men themselves, they knew they could speak for the world before their eyes but not the world beyond (if there is such a thing).

That's what I love about Dudeism.  We take a rational view of the universe and an open view of everything else.  We don't worry about what might be, we'll find out when/if we get there.  We're not the sorts to say "this is this and that is that".

As long as people keep science and spirituality separate it's all good.  Alas... that's not always the case.  Ho-hum... :)

Well now, was thinking about that; given the history of scientists creating things like the atomic bomb and a hell of a lot of other nifty weapons, I would argue that spirituality needs to be a vital part of science. Spirituality would perhaps lead to the creation by science of more things that are geared toward human peace and universal prosperity. IMHO.

I guess that depends on your semantic definition of spirituality.  I was talknig in a purely metaphysical sense, but that does include, as you say, the human spirit.  I wholeheartedly agree, ethics, be they of science of spirit, need to be taken into full account.  I think when it comes to those examples a level of hesitation based on the possibilites of what lies outside human knowledge should always come about.

    But, once again.... ho-hum :)

The development of scientific technologies is always driven by money. Although initial research funding may come from from harmless sources with no agenda, the serious moolah comes from big pharma, biotech, oil, you name it. Then those same companies lobby their respective governments to push through their new product, with nothing but dollar signs in their eyes. Look at aspertame. Based on the clinical trial results it NEVER should have been approved, yet it was railroaded through because of money. Another example: the many drugs with their "tolerable" side effects of death statistics of 1 in 500,000.

My point is that DB - you're right. a spiritual approach (read: one with integrity and love) would guide that whole process in a new direction. Instead of profits being the only consideration, and "fuck the rest", we'd see more considerate and responsible behaviour from the greedy corporations whose first and only agenda is financial growth.

Thank you... No, I don't write for a living, but I do have one feeble attempt at a novel under my belt. No one would pick it up - the traditional publishing houses don't touch first-time fiction writers. That is, unless your last name happens to be Palin, or Kardashian.

I'm still trying to actually finish mine, and keep doing bits on my blog:

Chapter 00 - Introduction to Junis Redux.
Chapter 01 - View From SolDock Five.
Chapter 02 - Water and Solitude.
    Chapter 03 - Room Without a View.
Chapter 04 - The God Emperor of the Four Deaconates Verses Batak Inc.
    Chapter 05 - Morning Dance.
    Chapter 06 - In Transit.
Chapter 07 - Cafe Take Two.

Unfortunately I lost my netbook (not any of the data, just the netbook), which stopped my creative flow for a while.
