A year of dudeism
« on: March 06, 2017, 11:27:08 AM »
Well dudes, it's already the 6th.  This being the 19th anniversary of the release of The Big Lebowski and my own 1 year anniversary of taking on the shades and jellies of the holy clergy... I'm inspired to reflect on how abiding has transformed my style and made a difference in my take on the whole derned human comedy.

I'd say all in all Dudeism has worked out pretty good for me.  I went from killing myself at a job I hated for dirt pay to continuing to stay there but realizing that I could abide it without bringing that dark cloud with me into my evenings while biding my time and continuing to look for a better place to feed the monkey.  I approached my interviews with less anxiety about the outcomes and got very far in the process with a lot of different places, I credit this more laid-back attitude with the reason one eventually hired me, the change came first and then the result that's for sure.  Nice place with some nice folks... now I know it's a little weird for a dudeist to find such comfort in a 9-5 but I really do now, knowing that I don't have to worry about the tenth coming up or looking after my special lady and little Lebowski.  Plus my compeers are pretty laid back and I don't need to worry about them peeing on my rug if I wanna take some time off or take er easy every now and then, as long as I get my videos done, It's been good.

There's been plenty of bad too, the IRS, a load of paraquats screwing me over for car repair, the new car I ended up needing because mine got a little too dinged up, not to mention Orange Donny who hasn't shut the fuck up for a long time and living in his new neighborhood the fucking fascist is all over the damn place... but I wouldn't have been able to abide any of that before, I would've gone after all of em in a fit of rage, flashed my piece in someone's face, and probably made matters way worse, but so far Dudeism came at just the right time and it fits right in there.  I've been able to end most of these things cheap and just say fuck it... can't be worried about that shit, life goes on man.

The best thing that Dudeism has given me though is a way to purge all the indoctrination from my past as a fundamentalist christian.  The Jesus I don't have problems with, nor folks who choose to follow him, just not a fan of the fundamentalist brand of ideology and never was really even back then, but brainwashing is what it is and having a new standard to hold myself to: Abide and don't be a fucking asshole, it helps me recognize stuff that's my own ideals and what was put there by those fucking nazis.  Just believing in nothing before wasn't really doing the trick and now cleaning up my ethos seems to be cleaning up a lot of other stuff too and that's cool... that's cool.

Anyways I wish you all the best of days, not just because it's the day of the dude and the end of hangover but because it's today, and whether you go out and achieve or not, it's gonna be one worth abiding in the end.  Off to go live it :)

Yeah, man. Roll with that shit. I've long embraced an "Office Space" approach to performance interviews. Fuck it. Interviews go both ways. I make money talking about what they're doing wrong and I'm doing right. It freaks them out. I don't think anyone else dares challenge the system. Well, I'm here to burn the system down if it's not working optimally.

Also agreed on the religious front. Believe in that which is evidenced. Fuck all the rest.

Just got ordained the other day so it's nice to hear from dudes who already walked the walk  8) . Far out, dude. I can only agree with the notion that Dudeism is like a reset button on a PC. It can reset your life and bring it back to what it should have been from the start. So just chill, dudes!  :)
