To celebrate my 200rh post, good news

My family and I will be moving to holland later this year to the lovely city of Nijmegen.
It may have been a bridge too far for the allies but I am confident my dudelyness will pass in a pretty cool place.
Now if i can just find the right place for the rug ...

I used to hang out there when I was stationed in Germany...Overloon is another dudely town..

My Dad was airforce, when he was posted to Wildenrath we lived on the Dutch German border in Leik near Heinzberg.

We used to go shopping on the weekends in Holland.

I also had a few very good Dutch friends at Uni, unfortunately I've lost contact with most of them.

I give the traditional british pub about another five to ten years before it's gone.

Big national chains greed has been slowly killing it but the new drink legislation will cause it a big problem (minimum price per unit), and wont solve the culture of binge drinking. People will do what they have always done in these situations, turn to illegal cheaper sources.

Are they increasing the price so people won't drink? The dipshits who thought of that need to take a hint, we tried it in the 20's; "prohibition," was a massive disaster and more or less gave us modern organized crime. As if a government can tell a people they can't have a drink (or smoke, for that matter)! Really stupid! LOL, we did anyway. State after state in the US are passing laws legalizing hemp. The feds are having a shit fit over it!

They're doing it so the "poorer" won't drink. It's aimed at the lower social class of people who buy cider at 3 pounds a plastic bottle...low in price but high in alcoholic content....as Meekon says it won't stop a thing....the black market in tobacco is as high as it's ever been and alcohol can be brought in by the van load from the continent...then sold on cheaply....it's a crock of shit!

Sales of home brew kits will sore and people will brew there own and sell it....it won't change anything...
