On Oct 30, in DC John Stewart is holding a rally to "take it down a notch for America". A chance for people who are not reactionaries to get together and not protest something.

This Dude is going, and I have seats on a motor home available, so if any Dudes along the Eastern coast between Boston and Dc want to go an' chill for reason in America, let me know.

Actually I am going to support Colberts counter Rally, Restoring fear to America (satire). It is time to freak out for freedom!!!

Sounds as if it is going to be a righteous gas; have fun and take some pics for all us stay at home sinners, man. Happy Trails, Dude.  ;D

Will you be holding a blank sign/placard? If I were able to attend I think I might go for a 'Father Dougal' (it can't really be classed as a protest sign - I would just be asking people to be careful):

Rev. Gary (revgms)

Yeah, tough to say, kinda have this persona thing going on with the Colbert Nation, really not very Dude, more Walter like. It is a gimmic, most people there know it is satire, but I am kinda doin' the Keep Fear Alive angle here, for laughs. Think I might let this side of my "charactor" die after the rally, an' go more Dudeist/Buddhist at the CN forum after.

Tell ya' what, I will do both angles, Dude and reactionary, just keep flipping back and forth like, I'll get pix.

But any Dudes wanna hook up with a ride, or just chill a minute as I pass by, that would be cool.

Sounds like fun but rather exhausting; kudos for taking the Dude vibe there. Any good with a needle and thread? Perhaps you can knock together an outfit one half (hmm, left or right side?) Dude and the other half  camouflaged reactionary. Be fun to watch, especially if you have a double-sided placard - left hand grabbing it out of the right hand at the character flip. Come on all east coast Dudes 'a Dude happening' is being planned.

Rev. Gary (revgms)

Final call Dudes, anyone need a ride from Boston to DC, for rally?

And let me know if any of ya are gonna make it to rally? Would be way cool to meet up with a fellow Dude.

This rally has potential, could be some kind of Woodstock, being that the reason for the rally is to get people to chill out. It is a protest against reactionaries, but a really mellow kinda not so much protest. Basically a rally to get people to, put the fuck'n gun away man!

It is also a rally for people who usually have something better to do than go to rallies, especially for some "Big Lebowski" business interest, or to chant hate slogans at others. You know, Dude types, who would rather limber up on the sofa, than go yell political slogans that just get everybody upset. A chance for the chilled majority to stand up, or sit up at least, for a little less reactionary BS in our politics and society. The kind of gathering where nothing gets burned, well maybe the odd J, but no holy books, flags or leaders in effigy.

Yeah mang, I think if the Dude were to throw a political rally, it would resemble what John and Stephen are doing.

Far out, mang. Mark it for the dudeism team. Sounds like a worthy cause.

Dude, Far out. The 30th you say, uh, what day is that? Sounds good, I'd like to make it, however, I never plan that far in advance, although I hate DC as much as the Eagles probably hate DC. Having worked there for too many years protecting the reactionaries and their interests. But that's fucking interesting man. Never much for rallies. I find them exhausting, but like observing. Maybe I'll wear my Dudeist Priest shirt, a real target. Dude, beware, I was just there last month visiting my Congressman. Walking to the Capitol building is like going through military checkpoints in Iraq. The PD were checking vehicle trunks on their own employees, so don't expect the peace and love of Woodstock. Stewart will be insulated by his own physical security and the Malibu chief's fear of CNN televising them knocking the snot out of him. They also check anyone carrying bags or backpacks entering the museums etc. I realize this is de jour procedure, but very undude. Anyway, that's just like my opinion, man. Good luck and maybe I'll observe you there.

Rev. Gary (revgms)

Dude I will be wearing my Dudeist priest shirt also.

So what's the deal with doin a J in DC, any hints on limbering up with out having to deal with reactionaries? I mean we know it is a spiritual activity dating back through the mists of time, expanding ones mind and allowing one to fully benefit from taking er easy, but some do not understand these noble things. Ya' know, I just don't want some paraquat infringing on my religious rights.
