The origins of our Dudeist names

  • Hi Dudes,

I was looking at the various preferred nomenclatures of the members here on this site and was just wondering how some of you guys had come up with them....some of them are easy  to understand and some a little more cryptic. I like Neal's cos it's clever!

Mine is taken from the name of the coolest dog I ever shared my life with....come on Meekon  etc....tell all.

In peace and a bit of light hearted fun.

Love is like a butterfly it goes where it pleases and it pleases where it goes. :)

  • Well, the first thing that came to mind when I discovered the forum was: "fucking A"! My thing in life is to hang on to stuff that makes me think that, cause that means it rockes and I wanna abide to it!
Stop thinking too uptight, just take it easy and abide.

  • My name is the confluence of three of my favorite things: The Big Lebowski, The Beatles, and aquatic mammals.
I don't get it. How do I sign this? Is there a special pen?

  • OK but this will destroy the romance of the name:

    I used to run restaurants.

I tend to shave my head and have a very dry sarcastic sense of humour. One particular cheeky member of staff on meeting me was heard to say "f*ck me the mekon!"

Looking for an original logon name about twenty years ago I remembered this, now I happen to also be dyslexic, so my version of the spelling of "mekon" is "meekon". and so use to call myself the infamous meekon.

As tends to happen I have signed up to web sites for years now and forgotten more log ons than I care to remember. So meekon becomes meekon1 through to meekon5.

So that's about the long and short of it.

(I'm the one on the right.)

I did once do an entire set of business cards like this:

In an attempt for consistency I have spread my nom-de-web across the interwebs, Google it and find my tracks.

  • Certainly that does destroy the romance for me.  I was happy believing you were inspired at some point (as I was) by the music from the UK band "The Mekons".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mekons_(band)

For me, bartender has a number of references that fit.

The name originally came about because I love to ride bicycles and of course, they have handle-BARS, to which I tend.  At one point many years ago I attached a Moe (simpson's bartender) to the handlebars.  And also, after rides I would set up beers and whiskey on my rear bumper and bartend for everyone.

Of course, we also all know that sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes the bar, he eats you.

Next up is that my father owned a bar for 50 years and when he passed away in November of 2008, I inherited it.  I now run it as a side project featuring live music and over 300 craft beers and most uniquely, I have no TV's in the place.

And just this past shomar shabbas, I hung this print above my special ladies room door...

Oh, and I always have kahlua.

Now thats a father I wish I had! He and the other half of my lovin' parents could even give me a name I never had much use for... Where is this bar, in case I'm in the neighborhood and need to use the john?
I would agree with the no idiot-box custom. I'm a TV nihilist. I watch nussing.

The bar is located at 169 Pinney Street in Rochester, Pennsylvania, USA.  It's called Hollywood Gardens.  And althought I'm not a real reactionary, it is a nice quiet local tavern and I aim to keep it nice and quiet.

    Our website is here:

And yes, feel free to use the john if you're in the area.  We also have cash machines nearby if you'd happen to become fond of a wonderful and free-spirited women in town.

Well awesome, if the nature of my league office ever does send me to that part of the world, cool, did you say it was off Radford?  Because that would be worth looking for, seen the Liberty Bell, and the flag lady's house, (Was her name Maude?) so you know, that would be, like, next..

Sorry if I am without a frame of reference, but I dont know if Rochester is anywhere near Philadelphia. In fact I don't know if this homework in front of me is my homework. But thats like my problem. Separate incidents.
    Cheers

  • Yeah, my name's based on the Cannonball Run and the Church of the Subgenius. The Captain part comes from Captain Chaos, and the Slack part comes from the Subgenius concept of Slack, which is basically an absolute ease of being that comes from having a laid-back attitude.

  • Ozzy?  Well... because of Ozzy.  It was a nickname from a couple of shops where I worked, from the amount of Black Sabbath I listened to.

85... 1985.  When I graduated high school and the world was just plain stuck with me.
    At least I'm housebroken.
