Strange sounds from sky, all around the globe.

  • Recently I been seeing all these videos about doomsday sirens and weird noises eminating from beneath the earth and in the sky. Here's one I found today, I thought I'd share it.  : )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHqzLbksr-8

I know that video really makes you think about how the internet has made this phenominon easy to share with the world, but I do wish I had the opportunity to send audio recordings of what I used to hear back in Pensacola Florida.

Because there really were strange noises last year where I was living. At random times there would suddenly be booming and loud blasting sounds like bombs being dropped IN the clouds. Not like thunder at all, but like fireworks without a show, and seemingly coming from everywhere. (Granted I did live between two MAJOR air force bases, Pcola NAS & Elgin)

I hate pranksters, and all that bolony that distracts us from the truth, but sometimes it is entertaining. However, in my case I can honestly admit that me and many many people around the northwest florida pan handle have heard the noises. I guess it's just military testing, and i would hate to compromise that.  But what do you guys think? Ever hear any strange noises?

Also found some other article about related tom foolery.

  • I've watched all the videos as well, and I personally think it's all bs. I've yet to see any videos matching the noises I heard. Which the air force bases deny any involvement with. There are a couple of articles about sky quakes...which is a pretty good description of what i would hear. And since I've seen a dozen blue angels air shows, I can deny any possibility of it being sonic booms. Although thoughs are very awesome to listen to.

http://www.dreamlandresort.com/forum/messages/7845.html - still reportedly air craft oriented according to the comments...

boom boom boom...seems like I brought this up before. Oh well.

I deffinately heard some jurrasic park/cloverfield-esque noises in those youtube videos though. Fun for a prank, but sad to see so many people actually beleive it.

I do believe electro magnetic fields may be a good explaination for any real ones if they exist. With the way the sun has been acting lately, I imagine the nitrogen is reacting very interestingly. When the sky turns green...
Here's a radio head song that calls out to me a bit when it comes to mind.

The problem is when people commit to believing something before all possibilities have been explored they shut the door to any other point of view. At this point I remind curious and skeptical about the sounds, but open to any possibility including pranks. Like this one.....

  • You said it guys.

Gotta admit that it's awful that the hustler got away with 20,000 dollars from investors, but some blame lands on the media. Gotta do your research and can't let any yahoo just tell you what's what.

some of my family has a theory that the sounds we heard were ships testing bombs that explode in the atmosphere, or high altitude fuel-air bombs. who knows, but that makes some sense. never know when you have to drop a bomb on the mother ship.

Update: After some digging I found out that not very far from where I live now, another town reports booming. Well, this is EXACTLY the sounds that i heard in Florida. To a fucking T.
Only you would hear more than one, and it would last for about 15 minutes to about an hour.  Here's the video.

My brother has lived and worked around the Pensacola area. Some of the booms you have heard may have been Air Force and Naval training runs. NAS Pensacola is one of the areas where they used to/currently do train pilots in flying F-18s; they are currently training on F-35s.There is an area in the Gulf of Mexico that is a no-go zone, because they will routinely run ordinance training with aircraft. I will have to ask him sometime, but I believe there is also one on land somewhere as well. It could even be something as simple as one of the fighters breaking the sound barrier.

For sure, maybe he can clue us in man.

Gotta admit though, I lived in pcola a long time and sonic booms are easily distiguishable; plus you hear the jet engine. I think you can only hear a sonic boom up to 50 miles depending on air pressure (temperature) BUT  Elgin and P-NAS, deny the sounds are caused by them when they are reported.  Plus what I hear is rapid succesions sometimes, you can hear maybe multiple booms happening almost simultaneously, within the space of a few seconds or a few minutes, or just a couple every once in a while.
    That's what's unusual.

Now. what isn't unusual is when I lived out there we had a great time kickin back on the bay with some oat sodas or maybe some spiked lemonaid and do some beer can chicken while fishin. It was like having a free fire works show in the day time but we were starin up at nothing like idiots. Didn't matter cause sandy toes and unbalanced motor functions gets you just off balanced enough when you're trying to see something that isn't there to get those little stars goin...very happenin.

  • I lived in Pensacola for several years back in the 70's. While I agree that sonic booms are easily distinguished, when they happen many miles away, the sound is attenuated by the atmosphere. By the time they reach your location, they may not be recognizable as such. Also, they do drop a lot of ordnance out in the gulf. Who knows what they test out there.

On the other hand, I did see a report out of Wisconsin where someone recorded a series of boom noises. Apparently, these have been happening quite often there lately. The University of Wisconsin was going to set up seismic detection instruments around the area in hopes of finding a cause. In that area, it is definitely not sonic booms or ordnance going off. That was a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything since.

    Strange stuff.
I'm not sure I know where I'm going, but I do know I'm making excellent time.
