It's really getting ridiculous.
New ad or Dr Pepper has stirred up a religious debate.
The ad shows the classic "march of progress". Ape to primitive man to modern man etc..
Of course it sent the religious lunatics into a fit.

Do you remember MR Magoo?,the cartoon?
That got pulled years ago,cuz folks went apeshit over the fact that Mr Magoo was nearly blind..it sent a bad message,and made fun of people that couldnt see well...that was a WTF too...
To go further,the pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disney world got changed too,cuz the pirate robots were drinking,and gambling,and not respecting women...Our world has gone mad,dude...no one can just take er easy...fuck it..lets go bowling...

Yes there is a lot of support for the sweet oat soda theory of human evolution. Oats have a mildly stimulating, tonic effect on human consciousness which raises awareness levels allowing us to make more effective use of our intelligence. No wonder oat soda is the patron drink of dudes.

Strangely that same stimulant action actually helps people get to sleep because tipping over from wakefullness actually requires a certain amount of nervous energy, hence the phenomonen of being too tired to sleep.

Oat soda is a wonder food.

It should be given to young children instead of milk, together with a 'starter portion' of cannabis.
They're never too young to learn good habits.

Right on CC, I was just going to post that. It's a pretty sound theory that civilization began when people discovered that if you leave your wheat laying around in pots it created alcohol, and so they stopped moving around and focused on domesticating grains. Hence, agriculture, hence civilization, hence modernity.

Carl Sagan had an even cooler theory - he hypothesized that pot was the first cultivated crop. Pygmys in Africa still apparently cultivate dope to give them patience for the long hours of waiting involved in hunting. And there's the whole Soma legend in Hinduism.

Finally, of course Terence McKenna, who said mushrooms made our minds suddenly evolve from dumb to creative, which has no basis in logic or genetics but is interesting nonetheless.
