Dudettes - is that a word???

Ok I am new to this forum, and came here thanks to my love of the great movie TBL!

I work with kids in my states worst juvenile facility - most are gangstas, chimos, and fucktards etc..

I would really like to show the movie 'The Big Lebowski' to the kids as a treat for good behavior, and as a reward for no murdering me. Its rated R and I am not allowed to show movies that are past Pg -13. What do I do? What would the Dude do?

Well, it sounds like you're not in 'Nam, man. There are rules. The question you have to ask yourself is: "Are you the only one who gives a shit about the rules anymore?" If you don't, then show the movie.

Of course, your career will probably slow down a little if you do show the movie.

Well, Fuck it, just show it. If they are all that bad, they'll think it's corny ....or maybe see it for what it is, a funny, harmless, irreverent set of literally connected skits.

And again, dudettes is not in the parlance of our times.

Take the rug scene for example, the one with BOTH the Dude and Lebowski. Mr.Lebowski is yelling at him, but he just says 'Fuck It' and leaves...then takes a rug anyways.

The Dude would say 'No, man...nothing is fucked here! New shit has come to light....its ...you know, rated PG-13'. Then he would marker out the part that shows 'R'.

This time, maybe you shouldn't abide! Its like religious script or....what not, there is no point in one person's abiding when you can bring in 15, 16, however many teens into...you know, abiding.

I believe we should seriously consider the position of Maude.

Her only possible hancicaps to Dude status are her wealth and her two goons who help her out of her harness and sock The Dude in the jaw to retrieve her mother's rug.

I know this thread is a little old, but I also work with troubled teenagers. Not really gang bangers and violent offenders, but a bunch of real brats and fucking dunces.

They get to spend a lot of time watching movies, and they rarely get to watch an R rated movie, but because of the drinking and drug use, TBL would never fly at the center where I work.

Some other dudely movies I would recommend:

Major Payne because pacifism is not the answer
Cool Runnings because pastafism is not the answer
Shawshank Redemption because if those kids keep acting like hoodlums, they'll know what it's like to be fucked in the ass by a stranger

These movies have underlying dudeist themes such as brotherhood, effortless effort, and deep philosophical insight. They are also fun to frequently quote.
